John Pressley Walls Jr., 77, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
John was born on September 21, 1948 in Mississippi to the late John Walls, Sr. and Geneva Doss McCafferty. John graduated from Starkville High School and went on to attend Mississippi State University, where he became a lifelong Bulldogs fan.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict. John made his home in Carrollton, where he retired from Southwire and was a faithful member of Carrollton First Methodist Church. He was a devoted family man who truly cherished the time he spent with those he loved. John found his greatest joy in his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Reed and Anna Self, sister, Billie Pirrung, and brother-in-law, Ray Self.
John is survived by his wife, Sue, sons, Phillip (Krista) McRae, Steven (Jessica) McRae, grandchildren, Lucy and Ty McRae, sisters-in-law, Donna Allen, Sherry Self, Sandra (Dennis) Barr, brother-in-law, Billy (Kay) Self, sisters, Diane Keller, Renee (Bryce) Freebury, and Sheila (Eric) Cline, many nieces, nephews and lifelong friend best friend, Louis Beene.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Poss, Tanner Hospice, friends and neighbors for their care and support.
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 24, 2026 at 3 pm at Carrollton First Methodist Church with Rev. Travis Sneed officiating. American Legion Post 143 will provided military honors.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Gathering Room of Carrollton First Methodist Church.
