Mr. John D. McKenzie, age 65, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday,

January 16, 2024. He was born on November 5, 1958, in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late J.D. McKenzie and Georgia Ann "Pat" Vockrodt McKenzie.

John was a skilled mechanic and tradesmen and was known for his ability to fix or build anything. His talents were showcased throughout his career, as he was incredibly talented in so many areas. Beyond his professional life, John had a myriad of interests and hobbies.

He found joy in traveling, fishing, and dancing, and had a passion for watching old westerns. An avid sports enthusiast, John was a dedicated fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. His love for music led him to become a skilled guitarist and singer. He was not only a good storyteller and writer but also a history buff with a wealth of knowledge.

Above all, John cherished his family and was known for his sense of humor as a jokester. He had a special fondness for animals, particularly dogs.

Surviving him are his loving wife, Katherine McKenzie; daughter, Stephanie (Alex) Groveman; sons, Jonathan (Kayley) McKenzie, Nate McKenzie; granddaughter, Elouise McKenzie; brother, Ben McKenzie; sister, Karen Rudine Jennings, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Barry Leon McKenzie and James Martin "Jimmy" McKenzie.

A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2 pm in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the service hour.
