Mrs. Joan Yow Gladin, age 93, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Born June 7, 1931, in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Jesse C. Yow and Frances Stelling Yow. Joan was a proud 1949 graduate of North Fulton High School and earned her degree from the University of Georgia in 1953. While at UGA, she was active in campus life, a member of Phi Mu Sorority, and a talented soloist with the University of Georgia Glee Club. Her performances ranged from classical opera to comedic musical numbers, and she even shared the stage with the Men's Glee Club during their concerts.

Joan devoted her career to education, teaching in the Fulton County School System. She found deep purpose and joy teaching remedial reading and English to refugee Asian children. In 1988, she and her beloved husband, the late Collier B. Gladin, Sr., moved to Fairfield Plantation, where she quickly became a beloved member of the community.

She served as President of the Fairfield Women's Club, volunteered faithfully at Tanner Medical Center from 1989 to 2020, and sang with the Carroll County Community Chorus for many years. Joan's life was defined by her deep love of family, her passion for music, and her unwavering commitment to serving others.

She is survived by her children, Kathryn G. (Thomas A.) Robertson, Collier B. (Julie Yates) Gladin, Jr., M.D., and David C. Gladin; her grandsons, Scott (Leighanne) Robertson, Brandon (Amanda) Gladin, Brett (Heather) Robertson, Mark (Jessica) Robertson, Collier B. (Kelly) Gladin III, and Dustin (Emily) Gladin; and her great-grandchildren, Tristen Gladin, Kyleigh Gladin, Luke Robertson, Noah Robertson, Joan Gladin, Piper Robertson, Elizabeth Gladin, Hattie Robertson, Daniel Gladin, and Micah Robertson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Collier B. Gladin, Sr.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and again on Monday, April 14, from 12 noon until 1 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Minister Mike Wood and Rev. Sam Braswell officiating. Special music will be provided by Heather Robertson and Becky Ellington.

Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Scott Robertson, Brett Robertson, Mark Robertson, Collier B. Gladin III, Dustin Gladin and Mitchell Burns.
