Mrs. Jewell J. Smith, age 101, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. She was born on February 16, 1923, in Cleburne County, Alabama, to the late Lynn Johnson and Lila Harden Johnson.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, Mrs. Smith spent 46 years as a seamstress with Bremen Bowdon Investment. She was a devoted member of Bethlehem Campground and was actively involved in the United Methodist Women until her health declined.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving daughters, Sharon Bates of Tallapoosa and Rhonda (Edward) Wiggins of Bowdon; her grandson, Ryan Thomas; her great-grandchildren, Carlie Bates, Levi Bates, Madison Strickland, and Ava Brooke Strickland; and her granddaughter-in-law, Angel Bates. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Luray Smith; her son-in-law, Ricky Bates; her grandson, Wesley Bates; and five brothers and one sister.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 1 PM to 2 PM at Almon Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jerry Wiggins. Interment will be at Bethlehem Campground Cemetery.
