Obituary

Mr. Jerry Herman Shadinger, age 83, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Mr. Shadinger was born in Carroll County, Georgia on February 4, 1941 son of the late Erma (Herman) Shadinger and Annie Robinson Shadinger.

He served his country in the US Army Reserves and he married the love of his life, Sybil Wilson Shadinger on May 18, 1963 and they were blessed with a daughter, Lori Shadinger Goode.

He lived in Carrollton and loved the country life. He commuted to Atlanta where he worked with the IRS as an auditor, supervisory operating accountant, Director of GSA's supply Distribution Center (ONDM). Later in his career he served as the South East Sun Belt Deputy Regional Chief Financial Officer. He retired from GSA as Chief Buildings Management officer for the Southeast Sun Belt Region Federal Public Buildings Service GSA with 37 years of Federal Service.

After his retirement he was asked if he wanted to work part time for GA Tech as a Federal Procurement Consultant and this assignment turned into a full-time consultant for 11 years. He was selected procurement consultant of the year his last year of employment. After retirement from Georgia Tech, he assisted the Native Americans East of the Mississippi river on how to secure Federal contracts. He taught Federal Procurement in AL, GA, MS and FL. He served on the Carroll County Planning and Zoning Board, Carroll County School Board Standards committee for local Boards of Education and served as one of the directors of Carroll County Water Authority for 8 years.

He thanks his Lord and Savior for knowledge and wisdom for the accomplishments he permitted him to make. He served on two mission trips to the Ukraine with Dr. Larry Draper and Dr. Tony Samples and their teams. These were very special as his interrupter was saved on the first trip and he got to go back the next year and see her baptized in a river in the Ukraine. None of this would have never happened without his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Sybil Wilson Shadinger; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Micheal Goode; granddaughter, Mary Goode (Caleb) Bryant. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Julian Shadinger; sisters, Grace Shadinger Stallings and Margaret Shadinger Denney.
