Obituary

Jerry Lee Farmer, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the age of 78. Born on February 17, 1948, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, Jerry was the son of the late Herman Griggs Farmer and Cora Lee Covington Farmer.

Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Korea. Following his military service, he built a long and faithful career as a network technician with GTE and Windstream Communications, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

A devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Jerry was especially active in the Haney Sunday School Class. His faith was not only something he professed but something he lived daily through service and kindness. Before moving to Carrollton, he volunteered countless hours at Ocilla Baptist Church, where he completely remodeled the church kitchen — a testament to his skill, generosity, and servant's heart. Jerry was a true craftsman. If he could imagine it, he could build it. Woodworking was one of his greatest joys, along with what he lovingly called "piddling" — always tinkering, fixing, or creating something. He enjoyed telling jokes, working Sudoku puzzles, hunting, fishing, and tending his vegetable garden. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends, never hesitating to step in when someone was in need.

Above all, Jerry loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carolyn Nicholson Farmer; his daughters, Joy (Albert) Sailers and Kay Farmer; and numerous extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Farmer and Elvin Farmer.

Jerry will be remembered for his steady faith, quick wit, skilled hands, and generous heart. His legacy of service, craftsmanship, and love will continue to live on in all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church Chapel, Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 3 p.m. Family will receive friends in the Heritage Room from 2 p.m. until service time.

Interment will follow in West Georgia Memorial Park with military honors being provided by American Legion Post 143.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jerry's honor to Carroll County Soup Kitchen, PO Box 2457, Carrollton, GA 30112 or the American Cancer Society, https://donate.cancer.org/
