Mrs. Jean McGuire Laney, age 73, of Bonner Road, Carrollton died April 6, 2011. Mrs. Laney was born March 28, 1938 in Carroll County to Robert L. McGuire and Jewel Nixon McGuire. Jean was a homemaker, raised in the Tallapoosa Community on Tyus Road, Carrollton, graduated from Bowdon High School. She and her family moved from port to port with her Husband Chuck while he made a career with the U. S. Navy. After his retirement they built a home on the family farm on Bonner Road, Carrollton, GA. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband Charles (Chuck) Laney of Carrollton, sons and daughter-in-law, Lee Laney and Charla Campbell of Franklin, Steven and Angie Laney of Carrollton, daughter and son-in-law, Faye and J. J. Gentry of Waco, grandchildren, Christopher Lee Laney, Angela Gentry, A. J. Gentry, Cody and Lucy Hall; sisters and brother-in-law, , Frances Graves of Elberton, Betty Branson, Jerry and Sammy Eady, and Jo Sybil McGuire of Carrollton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Bobby McGuire and Steve R. McGuire. Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11 am at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Ralph Caldwell and Rev. Milford Ballenger officiating. Music will be furnisned by Susan Hull and Sherri Shadix, and the church choir. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm. Pallbearers include Doug Graves, Tommy Branson, M. C. Robison, David Shadix, Runt Entrekin, and Doyle Horton.
