Mrs. Janice Carol Knowles Mock, age 72, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024. She was born in Fayetteville, Georgia on October 18, 1951, the daughter of the late Luther Ruben Knowles and Helen Lucile Stanley Knowles.
Mrs. Mock's passion was teaching. She received an undergraduate degree and master's degree in early childhood education at the University of West Georgia. She taught first and second grade for 30 years at both Bremen Elementary (Bremen, Ga) and most of her career at Maple Street, later Carrollton Elementary School. She was an active member of Alpha Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Organization honoring Women Educators where she held various leadership positions.
She was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she served in several volunteer capacities for over 15 years.
Janice was a devoted mother and wife who enjoyed traveling, quilting, and cooking her grandmother's famous pound cakes to whom she shared with many neighbors and friends.
Her greatest joy was babysitting her grandson, James for the past 4 years.
Mrs. Mock is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jerry Mock; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne Mock Trawick (Jay) of Carrollton, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Jason T. Mock (Katie) of Dalton, Georgia; grandson, James Garvie Trawick of Carrollton, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Denis Knowles (Wendy) of Fayetteville, Georgia; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM with a rosary to follow at 7 PM.
Funeral will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 210 Old Centerpoint Road, Carrollton, Georgia with a Requiem Mass at 12 noon with interment to follow in church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 210 Old Centerpoint Road, Carrollton, Georgia 30117 or the Alpha Alpha Chapter Scholarship Fund care of: Miriam Rhyne, 154 Wynridge Drive, Carrollton, Georgia 30116.
