Mr. James R. Smith, age 69, of Castleman Rd. Carrollton passed away Friday, May 21, 2010. Mr. Smith was born in Gainesville, GA, on May 9, 1941, the son of the late Hugh Harrison Smith and Margaret Elizabeth Wright Smith. He was a retired home builder. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Potts Smith; sons, Harrison Smith, Donald Smith, Matthew Smith, all of Carrollton, Joseph Smith of Florida; sisters, Betty Jean Martin, of Tyler Texas, Mattie Smith Healan, of Kilgore, Texas, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jason Coffee, Kurt Johnson, Roger Martin, Stanley Benefield, Brannan Williamson, and Andy Jones. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11 am from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Shirley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm. Interment will be in the Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA.
