Obituary

Mr. James Arthur Hornsby, age 62 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Mr. Hornsby was born in Dothan, Alabama on December 9, 1952, the son of Louie C. Hornsby and the late Mary M. Lewis Hornsby. He worked many years in the construction industry, primarily with R & R Enterprises, Inc. and Cherokee Trim Work, Inc. In the most recent years, Mr. Hornsby enjoyed tending bar at Millie's Pub and Eatery. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Hornsby loved music and acting. In his early years, he was a proud member of the Albany High School Marching band. Through the years, he was also a member of several Carroll County bands, including the Cross Plains Band and Zachariah. Mr. Hornsby was an actor known for his roles in "One Way Ticket," "Highway" and, through the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" and "Twelve Angry Men," to name a few. Survivors include his wife, Jane Hughey Hornsby; daughters, Amanda Casey (Bill Johnson) of Atlanta and Sarah Hornsby of Carrollton; sons, Nate Hornsby (Samantha Duffer) of Carrollton, Charles Smith of Villa Rica, Chase Hornsby of Carrollton; brother, Roger Hornsby (Karen Sifton) of Bowdon; grandchildren, Levi Johnson, Leah Hornsby, Calleigh Hornsby, Andrew Hornsby, Kysa Hornsby, Ethan Smith, Trey Smith and Jacob Smith. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, January 4 at 2 p.m. at the Lowell Opry House with Rev. Alex Brookhuis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton High School Band, 202 Trojan Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117 or Carroll County Soup Kitchen, P. O. Box 2457, Carrollton, GA 30112.
