Mr. James Delton Crook, 76, of Melba Drive, Carrollton passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Mr. Crook was born in Carroll County on June 11, 1934, the son of the late Elbert and Alma F. Crook. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and received a Good Conduct Medal and Marksman(Carbine) Medal. Mr. Crook was a general builder for 40 years and retired after ten years of service with the State of Georgia Department of Correction. He was a member of North Point Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Carole M. Crook; son and daughter-in-law, Deron and Shea Crook of Carrollton; granddaughter, Kaylee Crook; sisters, Miriam Horton, Nell Lands both of Carrollton; and brother, Bobby Crook of Carrollton. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Nelson Crook and brother, Ellis Crook. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday, March 10 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. J. Carlin Phillips and Rev. Brian Buchanan officiating. Music will be furnished by Meline Lewis. Pallbearers will be Marty Hulgan, Leland Styles, Danny Gable, Mike Horton, Jay Willis, and Eddie Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Lester Gray, Manley Cansler, and Larry Brooks.
