Obituary

Mr. Jack Houston Barr, 65, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his farm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Jack was born June 4, 1960, in LaGrange, Georgia, the son of Lee Houston Barr, Jr. and Nita Jackson Barr. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1978 and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Animal Sciences from the University of Georgia. A talented builder and craftsman, Jack owned and operated Jack Barr Construction, where he worked as a contractor known for his skill and creativity.

A man of many gifts, Jack had a deep love for both music and nature. He played and sang in the worship band at Carrollton First Methodist Church for 25 years and performed with groups including Crosswalk, The Surf, Crews and Company, and Watusi Rodeo. He found joy in playing guitar and piano, writing songs, and sharing his love of music with others. Beyond music, Jack enjoyed fishing, carpentry, farming, designing, and art—always finding ways to celebrate the beauty of creation. Above all else, Jack was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and "Pa" to his grandchildren, who were his greatest pride and joy.
