It is with broken hearts but deep gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ida Karene Duffey on October 27, 2025. She peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her loved ones at home, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will live on in all who knew her.

Karene was born on October 20, 1940 in Carroll County, and was married to the love of her life, Larry Duffey, for nearly 67 beautiful years. Together they built a life rich in love, laughter, and shared adventures — traveling many miles side by side and cherishing every moment together.

She is survived by her husband Larry, her daughters, Donna Kay Strickland (Charles) and Cheryl Duffey Carlton (Jim); her grandchildren Ashley Crouch (Josh) and Charlie Strickland (Davida); and her great-grandchildren Tristen, Aidan, and Haven Farmer, and Isabella Crouch, Matthew, Jagger and Zayne Strickland. Her step grandchildren, Remon, Lasheka and Neal Strickland. And Step great grandson Joshua Crouch. Her sister Linda Godfrey (Warren), several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roy "Ross" Hunter and Opal Gilley Hunter, and brother Bobby Hunter and a son in law Steve Smith.

Karene's greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into her home and the people she loved, always putting others before herself. She found fulfillment not only in being a devoted wife but in being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — roles she embraced with tenderness, pride, and endless patience.

A woman of strong faith, Karene faithfully served in her local church for many years and gave her time generously at the community food bank, helping those in need with compassion and grace. Through her actions, she taught her daughters what true, unconditional love and commitment looked like — always leading by example, with humility, grace and strength.

Her smile, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering love will be forever missed but never forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing that she is now at peace, healed and whole, surrounded by the everlasting love of the Savior she served so faithfully.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 1:30 pm from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Strickland and Pastor Marc Limbaugh officiating.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Friday from 11:30 am until the service hour.

Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Strickland, Tristen Farmer, Aidan Farmer, Josh Crouch, Jim Carlton and Charles Strickland.
