Mr. H. Smith "Red" Wilkins, Jr., age 83 of Carrollton, Georgia died Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Mr Wilkins was born in College Park, Georgia on December 25, 1930, the son of the late Hoke Smith Wilkins, Sr. and Mable Smith Wilkins. He grew up in the Hulett Community, attended West Georgia College, and was a veteran having served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Tarawa. Mr. Wilkins retired from Plantation Pipe Line Company. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Carrollton Trojan fan and was inducted into the Carrollton High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1987 for his years of service in the Booster Club. He was an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Doris Windom Wilkins; son, David Wilkins; son-and-daughter-in-law, Phil (LaJuana) Wilkins; grandchildren, Kaela Wilkins and Kevin Wilkins; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony (Melba) Wilkins. The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 3 o'clock with Dr. Jimmy Gentry, Rev. Harrison Cain and Mr. Wayne Garner officiating. Pallbearers will be Larry Windom, Charles Anderson, Ryan Windom, Chris Gammon, Greg Fielder, and Bob Tucker. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Carrollton Golden K and the Sons of the Confederate Veterans. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens with American Legion Post #143 presenting military honors.
