Mr. Henry C. Head, local attorney and former Solicitor, of Carrollton, Georgia died Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was 82. Mr. Head was born in Haralson County, Georgia on August 30, 1929, the son of the late Willie Brown Head and Carl C. Head. He attended West Georgia College, transferred to the University of Georgia and graduated from Law School in 1951. After graduation he volunteered for military service in 1951 and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Mr. Head served in the Judge Advocate General Corp and as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He was promoted to Captain in 1954. Mr. Head opened his law office in Carrollton in 1955. He was elected and served 32 years as Solicitor of City Court of Carroll County which is now State Court of Carroll County. He joined Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1955 where he had served as Deacon, Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Teacher and Director of Young Married Couples. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sandra B. Head; children, James B. Head of Carrollton, Melissa Anne Head Owen of Kennesaw, Phyllis Head of Carrollton, David C. Head of Carrollton, 10 grandchildren; sisters, Ann Head and Edith Collins both of Buchanan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen Andrew Head and brother, Robert Head. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 2 o'clock at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Cobble and Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating. Music will be provided by Irvin Pearre and Betty Sue Smith. The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Thursday, August 30 from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Freddie Witcher, Charlie Story, Greg Walker, Johnny Tanner, David Tisinger, Tee Reeve, Terry Walker, Robert Temple and Davis Owen. Honorary pallbearers will be Coweta Circuit Bar Association and Attorneys. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
