Mr. Henry E. Dufour, Jr., age 79 of Mill Stream Court, Carrollton, GA died Friday, October 21, 2011. Henry was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on December 31, 1931, the son of the late Henry E. Dufour, Sr. and Myrtle Boze Dufour. Henry received his B.A. and his Master's in Sociology at Louisiana State University, and he completed his doctorate studies at Georgia State University. He was the Warden at the Louisiana State Prison at Angola, Louisiana for five years before turning to teaching at Nichols State University. In 1965 he moved to Carrollton to teach at the University of West Georgia where he established the Criminal Justice program before retiring in 1995. Henry served on Advisory Council and Juvenile Justice Committees for the Governor of Georgia and was a consultant for a number of police departments throughout the state. Survivors include his wife, Rose D. Dufour; children, Henry E. Dufour, III of Norfolk, Virginia, Vicki Balez of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Andy Dufour of Ridgecrest, California, Susan Dufour of Birmingham, Alabama, Bob Dufour of Douglasville, Georgia, John Dufour of Temple, Georgia; grandchildren, Kelley Matthews, Tiffany DeBenedetto, Kip Dufour, Steven Dufour, Will Dufour, Claire Dufour, Kate Dufour, Savannah Singleton, Julia Sanders; great grandchildren, Julia Dufour, Brennan Dufour, Madison Matthews, Morgan Matthews, Dominic DeBenedetto and Nathan DeBenedetto. A reception and visitation celebrating Henry's life will be held in the parish hall of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church at 2:00 p m on Friday, October 28. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 606 Newnan Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
