Helen Robison Foster, formerly of Carrollton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 15, 2010 in Waverly, GA. Helen was born June 27, 1926 in Carrollton, GA to George Howell Robison and Mary Ethyl Nixon Robison. She was 84. After graduating from Carrollton High School, she worked as a reservationist for Delta Airlines supporting the surge of activity aligned with the war effort. On December 29, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Foster, who was on a 3 day pass from his naval vessel docked in New York. Upon his discharge 2 years later, they began their amazing 63 years of marriage and raising a family. Helen and Bill were blessed with four daughters: Judith Diana, Vicky Lynn, Chip and Helen Valerie. She juggled the roles of devoted wife, working woman and what we would now call the "soccer mom" tirelessly and with unending love. She cooked for 3 meals a day, sewed prom and tennis dresses, worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses as well as her husband's and transported the girls to all kinds and numerous sports/dance and school activities. As a gardener, she could stick any plant cutting in the dirt and it would flourish. Her arms were always generous with food for those in need or just stopping by for a visit. Helen's passion as the memory keeper is evidenced by the dozens of scraps books she compiled documenting the lives and events surrounding her family. She was fascinated by her genealogy research and the mysteries never solved. Though she disliked sporting competition, she learned to play pool in retirement and actually won a trophy. What may be the most lasting evidence of her soul is represented by her paintings. She expressed an inner glow and insight in so many different and beautiful works of art that her friends and family will cherish forever. Helen is predeceased by her husband, William Green "Bill" Foster and two brothers, "Robby" Robison of Villa Rica, GA and "Ray" Robison of Griffin, GA. She is survived by daughter Judy and husband Luke Cousins; daughter Vicky Foster; daughter Chip Foster; and daughter Valerie Homan. Surviving grandchildren include: Bradley McCash, Chrissy King, Luke Cousins IV and Vicky Homan. Surviving great-grandchildren include: Christopher Davis, Jessy King and Foster McCash. Services will be held Saturday November 20, 2010 at Almon Funeral Home and Chapel at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Almon. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Carroll Memory Gardens in Carrollton, GA.
