Harvey Denson
Hendrix
Apr 13, 1927 — Nov 26, 2025
Mr. Harvey Denson Hendrix, age 98, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Born on the family farm in Carroll County, Georgia, on April 13, 1927, Harvey was the son of the late Hulett Denson Hendrix and Myrtha Wester Hendrix. He graduated from West Georgia and the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Education. After teaching one course "that was enough" he began a long and successful career as a sales representative with General Electric, where he worked for 35 years until his retirement.
A member of Carrollton First Methodist Church, Harvey lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War.
Harvey was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan, a generous gardener who loved sharing his harvest with neighbors, and a man who truly enjoyed the simple pleasure of tending his yard from the seat of his John Deere mower. He was also a passionate golfer, spending countless mornings on the course with friends. With his steady swing and easygoing spirit, he outlived a dozen or more golf partners—an enduring testament to both his longevity and his love for the game.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Carolyn M. Hendrix and numerous cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Hugh Denson Hendrix; and his brother, Willard Hendrix.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 28, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Almon Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel, with Rev. Keith Hancock officiating and Ashley Hendrix delivering the eulogy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tanner Health Foundation, PO Box 695, Carrollton, Georgia 30112.
A private burial will be held at Carroll Memory Gardens with Scott Hendrix, Greg Hendrix, Preston Hendrix, Tucker Hendrix, Steve Duncan and Kenneth Cooke serving as pallbearers.
