Obituary

Gerard J. Snyder, lovingly known as Jerry to some and Butch to others, age 86 of Franklin Park, PA, went home to the Lord on March 31, 2025.

Jerry was married for almost 60 years to the late Barbara (Stalter) Snyder. Father of Jerry (Kara)Snyder, Margie (Larry) Giamp, Lorrie (Jack) Miller, Mary Snyder (deceased), Joanne Hoberg, and Matt (Sheryl) Snyder.  Grandfather of Jessica Maccarini, Chelsea Zimmerman, Malarry Grodi, Tim Miller, Kristen Brewer, Katie Hoberg, and Emily Hoberg. Great-grandfather of Calvin Wood, Meghan Grodi, Enzo Maccarini, Luke Grodi, Zelie Zimmerman, and Milo Zimmerman. Son of the late Margaret and Wilbert Snyder. Brother of Joan Lippold, Margie Hancock, Charlotte Hilderhoff, and the late Wilbert Snyder, Marion Audley, Thomas Snyder, Regis Snyder, and Jerome Snyder.

Jerry was a 1956 graduate of North Catholic High School. He spent his early working years building homes. He then accepted a job in the carpenter shop of Dravo Corp. Upon its closing, Jerry took his carpenter skills to St. Francis Hospital, where he worked for the next 20 years. He always took time to talk to patients and staff alike, making it a ministry to brighten the lives of those he came across each day at work.

Jerry will be remembered for his sharp memory of days gone by. He always enjoyed sharing stories of the past. He loved the Lord, his family, and being outdoors.

A special thank you to all the ladies at Caregivers of West GA who did an incredible job helping to care for "Mr. Jerry" in his final days alongside of his daughter, Joanne. A special thank you also to caregiver Janice and to the people at The Retreat at Canton.

His 10 year battle with cancer is over. May he rest in the arms of Jesus.

A Funeral Mass and interment will be held in Pennsylvania.
