George Franklin Ledbetter, Jr. Mr. George Franklin Ledbetter, Jr., age 87, of Old Newnan Road, Carrollton passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011. Mr. Ledbetter was born in Hollywood, Georgia on March 14, 1924, the son of the late George Franklin Ledbetter, Sr. and Dixie Taylor Ledbetter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the European Campaign during WWII where he survived the Battle of The Bulge. Mr. Ledbetter was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Tanner Medical Auxiliary, Carrollton First United Methodist Church where he served as Head Usher for 33 years, and Adult Friendship Sunday School Class. He was a retired educator from the Carroll County School System where he taught for over 30 years. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg Franklin and Lisa Ledbetter, John Brett and Celia Ledbetter all of Carrollton; grandchildren, Allen Ledbetter, Taylor Ledbetter, Thomas Ledbetter, Kerri (Joe) Felder and Joel (Kate) Ledbetter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Libby Ledbetter. Funeral services will be Monday, June 20 at 11 A. M. from the Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gerry Davis, Dr. Jimmy Thurman, and Rev. Karla Otroszko officiating. Pallbearers will be Allen Ledbetter, Taylor Ledbetter, Thomas Ledbetter, Joel Ledbetter, Joe Felder, and George Pope. Members of the Adult Sunday School Class and Tanner Medical Auxiliary will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 pm until 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton United Methodist Church Youth Program, 206 Newnan Street Carrollton, GA 30117.
