Obituary

Maymie Gaye Miller Pollock died peacefully at Carrollton Manor on Monday, March 7, 2016. The staff of Carrollton Manor made her last days very comfortable. The second of six children born to Isom and Maude Miller she outlived them all. She was born April 16, 1915, in the mountains of Lansing, North Carolina. She was 100 years old. She graduated from Appalachian State Teachers College with a Bachelors degree in Science in 1938. She went on to Duke University Medical School and earned her degree in Medical Technology. She worked in various hospitals in the Southeast. Later, she became a teacher and retired in 1980 after 25 years. Retirement was her joy. She developed all her talents; sewing, quilting, painting and travel. She lived her life to the fullest. She is survived by her only child Bunny Virginia Howell of Carrollton, granddaughter Sally and Lee Dagerhardt of Blairsville, and grandson Blake Howell and his partner Ron Dupler of Pinehurst, NC. Services will be Friday at 11 oclock in the Chapel of Almon Funeral Home. Visitation will be the hour before the service. Pallbearers will be Blake Howell, David Howell, Lee Dagerhardt, Bill Carter, Tim Thomas and Dan Williamson. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Margarets Outreach, 606 Newnan Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117 or your favorite charity.
