Mr. Fred Dean Carroll, age 73 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Mr. Carroll was born in Washington, GA on July 13, 1941, the son of the late Ance Carroll and Georgie Alexander Carroll. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis, retired from Georgia Power as a Field Estimator Engineer Clerk 3 and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Elgerie T. Carroll; brothers, Frank Carroll and George (Edna) Carroll of Carrollton, GA; Walter Carroll of Bay City, TX; sister, Rilla Roberson of Carrollton, GA brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Margaret Traylor of Graham, AL; several nieces and nephews and his beloved yellow lab, King LeRoy. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Carroll McEwen. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Harris, Rev. Ricky Shadrix and Mr. Brad Vines officiating. His body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Bobby McClendon, Larry Barfield, Brad Vines, Bradley Keith, Steve Thompson, Clay McEwen and Travis Walker. Honorary pallbearer will be Dean Roberson. Interment will be in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Bradley Keith officiating and Rev. David Ayers praying with American Legion Post #143 presenting military honors.
