Mr. John Frank Alford, age 96, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Born on December 19, 1928, in Albertville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Bennett Allae Alford and Emmie Sue Lumpkin Alford.
Frank dedicated much of his life to service as an educator, coach, social worker, and later to the Methodist Church, where he served as a home missionary for the Board of Global Ministries. For over 40 years, He and Joyce carried out missions in communities including Nashville, Tennessee; San Antonio, Texas; the Rio Grande Valley; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Farmington, New Mexico. He was a faithful member of Old Camp Church and veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joyce Spradley Alford; sons and daughters-in-law: John and Suzanne Alford, Kirk and Anne Alford, Alan and Tammy Alford, and Rob and Kim Alford. He was a loving grandfather to ten grandchildren—Emma Goodwin (Austin), John Ryan Alford, Daniel Alford, Hannah Alford, Jane Alford (Madison Jones), Aiden Alford, Chase Alford (Cheyenne), Sarah Beth Waterman (Jonathan), Ty Alford, and Gracie Alford. Also, a proud great-grandfather to Cate Jones, Maddie Jones, Cooper Waterman, Beckett Waterman, Sunday Alford, and Paxton Frank Waterman, who is expected in September. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Bennett Alford, William Alford, Vivian Alford, and James Alford.
A Celebration of Frank's life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Old Camp Church, with Rev. Randy Simpkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the service hour.
Pallbearers will be Chase Alford, Ty Alford, John Ryan Alford, Daniel Alford, Jonathan Waterman, Austin Goodwin, and Madison Jones.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Old Camp Church Missions, 77 Old Camp Church Road, Carrollton, GA 30117.
