Florence M. Brooks Mrs. Florence M. Brooks, age 90, of Old Newnan Road, Carrollton, GA passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009. Mrs. Brooks was born in Sumter County, Georgia on August 28, 1919, the daughter of the late George L. Mathews and Stella Doster Mathews. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia, and taught school in Leslie, Cuthbert, and Whitesburg, Georgia .She worked in the library at Robbins Air Force Base during World War II. Mrs. Brooks was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters and son in law, Cathy Brock of Covington, and Bonnie and Jack Whitman of Carrollton, grandchildren, Kimberly Lassiter, Kyle Brock, Andrew Whitman, 4 great grandchildren, special cousin, Montine Poole of Americus, Georgia, and sister and brother in law, Mary Lila and Bill Phillips of Gainesville, GA. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Felton Brooks. Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 2PM at Carroll Memory Gardens with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Kyle Brock, Andrew Whitman, Jim Collins, Phil Carter, Jimmy Tuggle, and Terry Bonner. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5pm until 7pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 102 Dixie Street, Carrollton, GA 30117 or Carroll County Alzheimer's Support Group, P. O. Box 1273, Carrollton, GA 30112.
