Mrs. Eva Whitman Sherrill, age 83 of South Street, Carrollton died Saturday, July 23, 2011. Mrs. Sherrill was born in Bowdon, Georgia on October 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Henry Edward Whitman and Susan Tellie Handley Whitman. She retired from Bowdon Elementary School where she worked in food services and was a member of the Bowdon First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Larry Smith of Carrollton, Lucy and Lynn Joyner of Carrollton; son-in-law, Randy Garrard of Bowdon; sister, Norma Hammonds of Bowdon; grandchildren, Candace (Jason) Jackson, Adrian Smith, Justin Joyner, Alex Garrard, Matthew Smith; great grandchild, Arden Jackson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Sherrill; daughter, Penny Garrard; grandson, Jason Joyner; brothers, Loyd Whitman, Olin Whitman, Bud Whitman, Leon Whitman and sisters, Rosie Ivey and Elzie Reeves. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11 A.M. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Cindy Conner and Rev. Darryl Hessel officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Joyner, Matthew Smith, Jason Jackson, Bill Weatherford, Tony Richardson and Mike Maxwell. Interment will be in the Bowdon First United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tanner Hospice, P.O. Box 1136, Carrollton, Georgia 30112.
