Mrs. Mary Emma Ward, age 97 of Tyus-Carrollton Road, Carrollton died Thursday, February 10, 2011. Mrs. Ward was born in Graham, Alabama on May 19, 1913, the daughter of the late Alexander Higgins and Sarah Jordan Higgins. She was former owner of the Tallapoosa Flower Shop in Tallapoosa and was a member of Bethlehem Campground United Methodist Church. Survivors include her children, Roy Byron (Emalene) Ward of Austell, Gary (Glenda) Ward of Tallapoosa, Linda (Herman) Robinson of Bremen, Sandra Pope of Tallapoosa; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sanders Ward; nine brothers and sisters; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 12 at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Wiggins and Rev. Jimmy Nixon officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Pope, Darrel Laminack, Richard Ward, Randal Ward, Doug Rand and Tim Tullock.
