Mrs. Elaine Marie Johnson, age 91, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Mrs. Johnson was born in Taylorsville, Mississippi on August 14, 1928, the daughter of Ernest Lee Jones and Gertrude Williams Jones. Mrs. Johnson retired from West Georgia College as the bookkeeper of the Arts and Sciences Department. She was a member of the Bowdon First United Methodist Church where she attended the Good News Sunday School Class and the Bowdon United Methodist Church Choir. She was also a member of the BAUCM of Bowdon. Survivors include her children, Joe Darrell and Susan Johnson of Byram, Mississippi, Rhonda and Walter Shealy of Carrollton; grandchildren, Todd, Brian, Carrie and Jay; eight great grandchildren; sister, Billie Ruth Stringer of Taylorsville, Mississippi; daughter-in-law, Lyn Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Vernon Johnson, son, Richard L. Johnson, brother and sister-in-law, James Thomas "J.T." and Earnestine Jones, brother, Carroll Jones and brother-in-law, Joe Robert Stringer. Due to Covid-19 a private family graveside service will be held at Fellowship Cemetery in Taylorsville, Mississippi. There will be a live stream memorial held on the Facebook page of Pastor Randy Simpkins on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bowdon First United Methodist Church, 302 Wedowee St, Bowdon, GA 30108.
