Obituary

Doyal Smith Shirey, age 82, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, following an extended illness.

Doyal was born in Carrollton, GA on July 10, 1943, to the late A.O. and Ruby Shirey. He attended Carrollton High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Following his military service, he returned home to Carrollton, where he owned and operated several businesses throughout his working career, including two separate dairy operations, a Tom's snack distributorship, Storm Products, and Georgia Stained Glass. Through his work, he exemplified an incredible work ethic, integrity, diligence, and a servant's heart.

Doyal was a faithful and devoted member of Roopville Road Baptist Church. He cherished time spent with his family, seeing them as one of God's greatest blessings in his life. He also found joy in farming, road trips, creating stained glass and collecting coins.

Doyal leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and steadfast devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Ann; his daughter, Tricia (Kenny) Durrough; his granddaughter, Bethany (Jordan) Iler; sisters-in-law Tammy Shirey and Christy Shirey, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Marian (Frank) Wynn; and his brothers, Ricky Shirey and Charles Shirey. While his earthly life has come to an end, his family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that they will see him again in God's heavenly kingdom.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2PM at Roopville Road Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Peeples officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour at the church.

Interment will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens.

While flowers are welcome, memorial contributions can also be made to Roopville Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 835 N Highway 27, Roopville, GA 30170.
