Mrs. Doris Nell Spruell Davis, age 92 of Cottage Lane, Carrollton, formerly of the Farmers High Community, died Thursday, December 10, 2009. Mrs. Davis was born in Carroll County on April 30, 1917, the daughter of the late Caleb Norman Spruell and Mary Belle Treadaway Spruell. She was a homemaker and member of the Bowdon Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Cottage Landing Assisted Living and Altus Hospice who made her life as comfortable as possible during the last six months, and to the many friends she made there who made her life more meaningful. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn Davis and Jack Carpenter of Hampstead, North Carolina, Martha Davis and Sam Weatherman of Marietta, Nancy Davis and Gene Griffin of Marietta; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Zack Davis; sisters, Clarice S. Cox, Louise S. Wessinger and brother, Doc Spruell. Funeral service will be held Saturday, December 12 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
