Doris Lorraine Compagna Coleman died peacefully at her grandson's home in Atlanta on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers. Doris Coleman was pre-deceased by her husband, Colonel Edward R. Coleman, USA, who died in 1991. She is survived by daughters, Patrica G. Thornton (Bob G. Thornton), Linda G. Thornton (Robert M. Thornton, Jr.), and Kathleen L. Moore, as well as grandson, Thomas V. Moore, Jr. (Audra E. Moore), great granddaughters, Langley Elizabeth Moore and London Elizabeth Moore, and precious pets, Winston M. Pony, Warner M. Cockatoo, Mia M. Spaniel and Margo M. Spaniel.

Doris Coleman was a devoted and award-winning military wife who supported her husband and family through 22 relocations across three continents, including during Col. Coleman's two tours of duty in Vietnam, one tour of duty in Korea and a posting at the Pentagon. She was a skilled barn mother to her daughters, all of whom were competitive equestrians, a champion of military causes everywhere she lived and a loving grandmother who inspired her grandson to high achievement.

Doris L. Compagna was born at home in Manchester, New Hampshire, on December 9, 1928, the eldest of five children of Leo and Blanche Hebert Compagna. She is survived by one sister, Virginia (Ginger) Winslow of Manchester, New Hampshire, and pre-deceased by brothers, Andre Compagna and Bobby Compagna and sister, Suzette Surprenant.

Mrs. Coleman, a devout, lifelong Catholic, will be interred in a private ceremony in the cemetery of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Carrollton, GA. The family requests that any memorials or donations be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in her honor.

A memorial mass will be on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 2 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Gaurav Shroff officiating.
