Mr. Don M. King, age 66, of Wedowee, Alabama passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013. Mr. King was born in Alexandria, Virginia on September 3, 1946, the son of the late Lloyd King and Lucille Lingerfelt King. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. Mr. King retired as an assistant manager with the Social Security Administration in Sarasota, Florida. He attended Ava United Methodist Church in Wedowee, Alabama. Mr. King received a Bachelor degree in Education from the University of Florida (Go Gators), and a Masters degree in Social Work from Florida State University. Survivors include his wife, Dianne F. King; stepson, Erik Janssens of LaGrange, GA; stepdaughters, Laura Mester (Steve) of Knoxville, TN, Kimberly McCarty of Sarasota, FL; sisters Lynnette Taylor (Richard) of Jacksonville, FL, Judy Carroll of Melbourne, FL; brother, Wesley King (Reva) of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Shane Feltus, Jacob Mester both of Knoxville, TN, Mariah Arnold and Coda Stephens both of Sarasota, FL; nieces Kamie Tucker (David) and Terry Chandler (Paul) ; and nephews Jason Stephens (Amy) and David Taylor and Steve Taylor. Memorial service will be 11am on August 3rd at Ava United Methodist Church in Wedowee, AL. An additional memorial service will be held at a later date in Edgewater, FL.
