Obituary

Debbie was born to the late John Spahn and Ellen Gillio, April 5, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland, where she grew up. She graduated from Coca Beach High School in Coca Beach, Florida. She learned how to surf the waves of life at an early age. She was married to the late Emmett L Garmany Jr for twenty four years. They had two children Lori and Emmett Garmany III. She supported and partnered, with her late husband throughout their marriage, in his business ventures. She was a volunteer Sunday School Teacher, Cheerleading Coach, and actively participated in her childrens lives. Debbie was the caretaker of many including her mother, in-laws, and brother during their health challenges. After the tragic death of her husband and young son, she remarried John Ridley in 2001. They enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling, and spending time with their grandchildren. Her hobbies included embroidery, sewing, gardening, and shopping trips with her lifelong friends. She was employed as the Office Manager of Bremen Eye Clinic, for ten plus years, prior to her early retirement. She was diagnosed with Metastic Breast Cancer in 2009 and used her journey to inspire many. Not only did she face the challenge head on, she embraced it with a smile, joy in her heart, and was a privilege to be around. She was forever grateful for her Cancer Care Team and those she met along the way. She accepted Jesus into her heart and was baptized at Abilene Baptist Church on June 11, 1989. She has been a member of Mount Holly Church in Bremen, Georgia since 2006. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Emmett L Garmany Jr, son, Emmett L Garmany III, both parents John Spahn and Ellen Gillio, her sister Faith Difatta, brothers Rick and Rusty Spahn, and In Laws, Sarah and Emmett L Garmany Sr, Ales and Juanita Ridley. She is survived by her current husband John Ridley, daughter and son-in-law, Dino and Lori McDowell, grandchildren, Dalton and Jordon Benefield, step son, Tommy Ridley, step grandchildren Hunter and Christian McDowell, Lee Ridley and many nieces and nephews.
