Obituary

Mr. Dean Michael Parker, age 77, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. He was born in Genesee County, Michigan, on September 26, 1946, to the late William Dean Parker and Eulagene Marian Ballard Parker.

Dean was a 1964 graduate of St. Matthews High School in Flint, Michigan. Following his graduation, he answered the call of duty and enlisted in the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. His service was marked by dedication and bravery, earning him accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, and Combat Action Ribbon.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Dean pursued his passion for mortuary science. He enrolled in mortuary college in Florida, earning an Associate degree in Mortuary Science and obtaining his Funeral Director and Embalming license. His career led him to Carrollton, where he continued to serve the community as a dedicated Funeral Director and Embalmer with Almon Funeral Home.

Beyond his mortuary career, Dean embraced various professional endeavors, and at the time of his passing, he was a valued team member at Target. An individual of diverse interests, he was an avid tennis player, a devoted Georgia fan, and took pleasure in collecting baseball cards.

Dean is survived by his loving wife, Ann Parker; his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Michelle Parker; cherished grandchildren, Alyssa Gunnells, Kevin LaRosa, Nicole LaRosa, and Sal LaRosa, Jr.; brothers, Ted Parker, Tim Parker, Brett Parker, and sister, Candy Eidson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer LaRosa; son, Tim Pollard; and brother, Scott Parker.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. A memorial service honoring Dean's life will follow the visitation in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
