Mr. Danny Byron "Road Runner" Bentley, age 62, of Whitesburg, Georgia passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Danny was born in Carrollton, Georgia on June 10, 1952, the son of the late Byron Bentley and Lessie Bentley Land. He was formerly employed by Yamaha of Newnan and was member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Danny was 1970 graduate of Carrollton High School and a graduate of the University of West Georgia. While at West Georgia he was a member of the baseball team under Coach Archie White. Danny had a lifelong love of baseball and played on many teams and later coached many teams as well. Danny liked to hunt and fish . He also had a great love for the Tennessee Vols and supported the team every way he could. Danny's greatest love was his friends. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Laura Jean and Tommy Traylor; nephews, Andy and (Christy) Traylor, Alan and (Megan) Traylor; a great nephew and a great niece and many, many special friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Bentley and his beloved dogs, Hope and Chance. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A service celebrating Danny's life will be held Friday, March 13, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Sutton and Mr. Barry Evans officiating. Music will be provided by Tori Yearta. The body will be placed in state one hour prior to service. Pallbearers will be David Phillips, Bud Scudder, David Britt, Ken Yearta, Scott Daniel, Ronnie Black and Danny Osborn. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067.
