Christine C. Payton Mrs. Christine C. Payton of N. White Street, Carrollton passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010. Mrs. Payton was born in Meridian, MS, the daughter of the late William DeForest Carlton and Mary Lilla Billings Carlton. She had worked as a dietician for the Carrollton City School System and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Survivors include, daughter, Mary Dolores Garrett of Alpharetta, GA, son, Chip Payton of Carrollton, grandchildren, Bill Garrett, Jr., Christy Hilliard, Russell Garrett, Trae Payton, Lori Payton, 7 great grandchildren, sisters, Willie Mae Grissom of Nashville, TN, Evelyn Culnon, Carolyn Newby, and Joan Kemp, all of Asheboro, NC. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elvys Payton, and 3 brothers. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 21 at 3 P. M. at Carroll Memory Gardens with Dr. Howard Cobble and Trea Payton presiding. Pallbearers will be Bill Garrett, Jr., Russell Garrett, Trae Payton, Brandon McGraw, Justin Paschal, and Richard Kemp.
