Obituary

Mr. Charles Anderson Smith, age 89, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026.

He was born on July 21, 1936, in Ranburne, Alabama, to the late Anderson Jethro Smith and Bessie Walker Smith. Charles spent much of his life as a dedicated farmer and was a proud member of the Cattlemen's Association. He was also a faithful member of Peachtree Baptist Church and a true friend to many in Carroll County.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Debra Ann Smith; his honorary daughter, Carrie Gable; his special friend, Neil Hendrix; his sister, Elaine Clapton; daughter-in-law, Sherry Smith; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Myra Baxter; sister-in-law, Iona Baxter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha Ann Baxter Smith; his son, Randy Smith; brothers, Wilson Smith, Milton Smith; sisters, Sammie Stewart and Floy McCullugh.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 1 PM to 3 PM at Almon Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 PM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Shadrix officiating.

Interment will be in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery with Mark McCullugh, Scott Caldwell, Billy Baxter, Richard Morton, Jimmy Baughn and Russell Gable serving as pallbearers.
