Mr. Charles H. Scantlin, age 72 of Newnan Road, Carrollton died Friday, July 30, 2010. Mr. Scantlin was born June 16, 1938, in Randolph County, Alabama, the son of the late James A. Garfield Scantlin and Mary Potts Scantlin. He served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era and was a self-employed contractor. Survivors include his son, Paul Scantlin of Tennessee and numerous nephews and nieces. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mavis Craft, Geneva Lipham, Hazel Bush, Linda Mashburn, Brooksie Heard and brother, James H. Scantlin. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be David Mashburn, Jamie Scantlin, Rodney Brown, Donnie Brown, Joseph Brown and Ron Crane.
