Vertice Renee "Champ" Bagby, age 66 of Villa Rica, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and simple joys. Born on September 9, 1958, in Douglas County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Vertice Lee Bagby and Jackie Payne Bagby.

Champ was a man who never asked for much—just a case of Bud Light, a good meal, and the company of family. A self-employed carpenter by trade, he found pride in his work, crafting spaces that held memories, including the best back porch Audrey and David will forever cherish.

Though he spent years in Arkansas, his heart was always with his family. From 2013 to 2018, he lived with his mother keeping her company and visited often his sister who lived just down the street. The last seven years Champ lived with his sister Angie. Moments and time together both of them treasure. In his final days, he often said, "I wish I had two more years," a testament to his love for life and the people in it.

Champ is now at peace, reunited with his parents, sister Adrian Vandiver, and brother Mark Payne. He is survived by his loving sisters, Angie Bagby, Sherry Lynn (Mark) Slappey, and Audrey (David) Mezo; his brother, Thomas Bagby; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever remember his kind spirit and steady presence.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Champ's life on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Almon Funeral Home, with visitation from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
