Obituary

Sara Elizabeth (Betty) Crosson, died on January 26, 2024, in Carrollton.

She was born in Atlanta on July 8, 1928, to Elizabeth Brock Upshaw and William

Candler Upshaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Joseph, brother

William Upshaw, and husband, Dudley Lewis Crosson. She is survived by her

three children, Cathy Elizabeth Crosson (Steven Redick), Jane Eleanor Crosson

(Michael Dennis), and William Lewis Crosson (Elizabeth Servidio), by

grandchildren Kava, Kejal, Paul, Justine, Eli, and Joseph, and by greatgrandchildren Poppy, Marlin, Hazel, and Felix.

Her maternal grandfather, William Jefferson Brock, was a dentist, Mayor of

Carrollton, and state senator. Her husband Dudley was City Manager of

Carrollton for decades until his retirement in 1992.

As a precocious child, Betty was put a grade ahead in elementary school.

After graduating from Carrollton High School in 1944, she attended West Georgia

College and the University of Georgia. She was a life-long avid fan of the

Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves, traveling to West Palm Beach for many years for

spring training. She also traveled frequently with friends to country music events.

Betty was active in the Carrollton Presbyterian Church, serving two terms as

an Elder. She enjoyed gardening, needlework, and playing bridge with longtime

friends in two bridge clubs.

Her family is grateful that Betty had a long life and was able to enjoy the

accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. They are especially grateful

for the loving attention she received from Cristy Green, her devoted caregiver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the

Carrollton Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 6 pm to 8pm.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 11 am at the Carrollton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kate Colussy-Estes officiating.

Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
