Mrs. Betty Ashmore Jones, age 78, of N. Lakeshore Drive, Carrollton passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010. Mrs. Jones was born in Carroll County on March 9, 1932, the daughter of the late John W. Ashmore and Mary Gammon Ashmore. She was a retired teacher from Central Middle School and was a member of the First Baptist Church and Fidelis Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Jones; daughters and son-in-laws, Terry and Chuck Phillips of Fayetteville, Susan and Preston Edwards of Newnan, Janet and David Brown of Carrollton; grandchildren, Rip and Kip Phillips, Brooks and Courtney Edwards, Joshua and Julia Edwards, Mary Beth Edwards, and Alex, Garrett and Logan Brown; and great grandchildren Landon and Carter Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Clarice Ashmore and brother, Gene Ashmore. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 19 at 3 P. M. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Davis and Rev. Larry Insko officiating. Pallbearers will be Brooks Edwards, Joshua Edwards, Mary Beth Edwards, Rip Phillips, Kip Phillips, Alex Brown, Garrett Brown, and Logan Brown. The Fidelis Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 P. M. until the funeral hour. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Faith for the Future, 102 Dixie Street, Carrollton, GA 30117 or Altus Hospice, 151-A North Bay View Dr., Villa Rica, GA 30180.
