Obituary

Bernice Schultz Bishop, age 90, of Carrollton, GA, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026.

Bernice was born on June 25, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Walter Schultz and Mary Hubick Oehling. During her teenage years, she was lovingly raised by her stepfather, George Oehling, who played an important role in her life.

She later married Dwight Bishop, Sr., and together they built a family and a life rooted in faith and service. Bernice was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and home.

Her faith was central to her life. Bernice was very active at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton, Georgia, where she was a dedicated member of the Altar Society. She also faithfully volunteered in the church's funeral ministry and generously gave her time helping in the church kitchen. Beyond her parish, Bernice volunteered for several years with Interfaith Ministry and was actively involved with Friends of the Library, reflecting her lifelong commitment to serving others and her community.

Bernice is survived by her son, Dennis Bishop; daughter, Debra Muse; son-in-law, Richard Kelley; brother, David Schultz; grandchildren, Alicia Lugo and Eric Harper; and great-grandchildren, Emma Lugo, Reese Lugo, Benjamin Lockwood, Hayven Harper, and Liam Harper.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Schultz and Mary Hubick Oehling; stepfather, George Oehling; husband, Dwight Bishop, Sr.; son, Dwight Bishop, Jr.; daughter, Dianne Kelley; sister, Florence Kubik; and granddaughter, Jenny Lockwood.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 4 PM to 6 PM, at Almon Funeral Home, with a rosary following at 6 PM.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11 AM, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Joe Wagner officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 210 Old Centerpoint Rd. Carrollton, GA 30117.
