Bernard "Bernie" Kress, age 77, of Carrollton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 24, 2024, following a brief illness.

He was born December 18, 1946, in Klein-Heilig-Kreuz (Fulda), Germany, to Johannes and Pulcheria Kress. The family immigrated to the United States in 1955 as refugees displaced by World War II, and settled in Akron, Ohio. While attending the University of Dayton on a football scholarship, he met the forever love of his life, Lynn Mead, whom he married in 1970.

Following 18 months of stateside military service, Bernie and Lynn moved to Carrollton where he worked his way up to CEO at Printed Fabrics Corporation and eventually became a principal owner of the company. After the company closed in 2004, he continued his fabric design group locally with Magnolia Home Fashions until retiring in 2019.

Bernie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 53 years, Lynn; sons John (Ashlyn) and Jeff; special daughter Michelle Michael-Kang (Ho-An); grandchildren Cicely and Walker; sister, Irma Baughman; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Peter.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home Sunday, January 28, from 4-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 29, at 1:30 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, with interment to follow.
