Mr. Guy Barnes Phillips, 81, of Carrollton passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010. Mr. Phillips was born in Carroll County on March 10, 1929, the son of the late Guy Phillips and Willie Blanche Barnes Phillips. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, and retired Electronic Technician with Southern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of the VFW, AmVets Post 99, and First Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Harriette H. Phillips, daughter and sons-in-laws, Denise and Mark Adams of Franklin, Teresa and Mike Holliday of Murfreesboro, TN, Celeta and Bill Walker of Carrollton, son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Shellie Phillips of Temple, grandchildren, Logan and Victoria Adams, Caitlin and Blake Holliday, Meredith, Wesley, and Phillip Walker, Michael Phillips, Tori and Drew Bishop, sisters, Margaret Gable of Birmingham, Bette Barnes of Carrollton, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlsie Phillips. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 22 at 2 P. M. from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Herring and Dr. Dean Milford officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Phillips, Logan Adams, Blake Holliday, Wesley Walker, Phillip Walker, Mark Adams, Mike Holliday, and Bill Walker. Former co-workers of Southern Bell Telephone Company will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5 p. m. until 7 p. m.
