Arturo José González, 68, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on November 5, 2023. He was born on December 4, 1954, in Managua, Nicaragua. Arturo was a beloved son, father, grandfather, and brother.

Arturo is survived by his mother, Sonia S. Lopez; his children, Juan José González (Amanda) of Baltimore, Clara Isabel González-Beatty (Robert) of Decatur, and Luisalberto González of St. Louis; and his grandson,Teddy Beatty. He is also survived by his siblings Byron Ever González, María Elena Carvajal, Margarita A. Miranda, Gyla D. González, Valentina C. Arturo was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Beatriz Baldizon de González; his father, Luis Alberto González del Valle; his stepfather, Alejandro Carvajal; and siblings Vera González, Debbie González, and Roger A. Carvajal.

Arturo studied civil engineering at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Nicaragua, where he met his wife, Claudia, who was his calculus study partner. He then worked for the Central Bank of Nicaragua as a civil engineer before emigrating to Miami and starting his own roofing company. Later, he moved to Carrollton to be closer to his extended family and worked at The Lazy Donkey, where he became well known amongst Carrollton residents. Arturo then found joy in driving the bus for Carrollton City Schools and the University of West Georgia.

Arturo especially cherished his time at West Georgia, where he loved getting to know the students, driving athletes to their games, and being a part of the university community. After completing his bus routes, Arturo even took the time to feed and care for the stray cats on campus. He was famed and appreciated across campus and throughout the city of Carrollton for his warm and engaging personality and his indefatigable work ethic.

Arturo was a devoted son and cared for his mother for many years. In his free time and as an enthusiast of the unknown, Arturo would immerse himself in the works of famed astronomer, Carl Sagan. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, parrots, and parakeets, particularly his favorite dogs Canela and Pepe. Arturo embraced his adopted home of Carrollton and took pleasure in living downtown, where he was often seen walking his dogs and waving at neighbors. He also had a special love for the Atlanta Braves and followed their games closely.
