Obituary

Mrs. Ann Arnett Ralston, age 94, of Carrollton, died February 11, 2026, at Pine Knoll Nursing Home.

Ann Arnett Ralston was born on April 27, 1931, to Harvey Hudson and Adielea Coats Arnett in Gadsden, AL. She was a long-time member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and sang in the choir until the Covid shutdown. She worked as the Activity Director at Carrollton Nursing Home and then volunteered in the Women's Auxiliary at Tanner Hospital for 43 years. She would always be taking pictures and creating activity books of all the events. Her calligraphy was always a work of art even up to the end of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 73 years, William Rudolph (Mr. Rhudy) Ralston; brothers, Charles Arnett and George Arnett; and her sister, Betty Fite.

Survivors include her two sons, James Ralston of Carrollton and Richard Ralston of Meansville; grandchildren Marian (Joseph) Sandefur and Mila Ralston; two great-grandsons, Rhys Ralston and Bryson Sandefur; nephews, Alan (Beth) Arnett and Jeff Lovett.

Growing up, she would spend summers in Carrollton staying with her grandmother, Myrtle Lou Daniel, on Lovvorn Road and helping at Myrtle's Hat Shop. She met her future husband when he was a student at West Georgia College. Her grandmother liked him and rented him her farm house next door.

My parents actually saw each other years earlier when my mother was riding in the car from Birmingham to Carrollton and passing through Arbacoochee, AL. My father and sister would run down to the road and wave at all the passing cars. My mother remembered him standing on the side of the road because he had yellow socks on.

A  memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 1 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church Chapel. Burial will be a private ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, GA.
