Mrs. Alice Marie Thigpen Henderson, age 78 of Mt. Zion Road, Carrollton, Georgia died Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Mrs. Henderson was born in Cullman, Alabama on January 13, 1934, the daughter of the late Woodie Alvin Thigpen and Othella Mae Stewart Thigpen. She was a homemaker, having loved and cared for her late husband, Cecil Merrill Henderson, raising her three children and enjoying her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Henderson had the gift of writing poetry having written her first poem in 1946. She also enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Henderson was a member of Glenloch Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Marie and Phillip Voyles of Carrollton, Anita and Bill Nalley of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Linda Henderson of Carrollton; grandchildren, Chris (Amanda) Dunkin, Ricky Lee Howell, Shane (Tiffany) Howell, Kayla (Douglas) Hames, Bryan (Keri) Altman, Kristi (Cody) Wiggins, Jarrett Nalley, Philip (Thiedra) Voyles, Tiffany (Shane) Harrison, Lora Voyles Keaton, Christopher Nalley, Cortney Nalley; great grandchildren, Dylan, River, Alley and Cecelia Dunkin, Ashley, Jesse and Haley Howell, Carrie, Terry, Hunter, DeAnna and Natalie Howell, Braxton, Bailey, and Brailynn Hames, Preston and Caleb Altman, Madison and Raylan Wiggins, Bailey and Lane Keaton, Synceigh, Savannah, Scarlett and Skye Voyles, Shianna and Abi Harrison, Conner Malone, Eli Nalley. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Merrill Henderson; sisters, Helen Faye Thigpen, Ezma Mizelle, Sara Jones; brother, Lee Thigpen; great grandson, David Howell and great granddaughter, Serenity Voyles. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Sunday, October 7 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Whittington and Rev. Neil Awbrey officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Dunkin, Shane Howell, Douglas Hames, Bryan Altman, Jarrett Nalley, Cody Wiggins, Braxton Hames and Dylan Dunkin. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren. Interment will be in Glenloch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Don Voyles officiating.
