Mr. Thomas Edward Traylor, age 68, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015. He was born in Roanoke, Alabama on September 23, 1947, the son of Mrs. Ellen Meadows Traylor and the late Curtis Edward Traylor. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1965 and was on the Trojan State Championship football team in 1964. He attended the University of West Georgia. He retired from Southwire after 34 years of service. He was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and worked in Children's Sunday School for many years. He was also a member of the Praise Singers Senior Choir. Tommy loved the outdoors especially riding on his tractor and gardening. He loved serving his community by working at the Soup Kitchen. His greatest joy was his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 46 years and high school sweetheart, Jean Bentley Traylor; his mother, Ellen Meadows Traylor; sons and daughters-in-law, Andy and Christy Traylor, Alan and Megan Traylor; grandchildren, Cody and Kelsey Traylor; nephews, Frank and Mark Hullender. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis E. Traylor and his sister, Rebecca Traylor Hullender. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Dyer, Dr. Jimmy Gentry, Rev. Jan Tolbert and Rev. Elton Davis officiating. The body will lie in state from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Morgan Brooks, David Todd, Harvel Hamm, Frank Hullender, Jack Armstrong, Rick Armstrong, Bob Armstrong and Thomas Arnold. Mark Hullender, Deacons of Tabernacle Baptist Church and Mike Dunn's Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
