Obituary for Takako McEnery

Takako McEnery, 82, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 9, 2018 in the presence of her family.

Takako was born November 20, 1935 in Tokyo, Japan daughter to Kazuyoshi Ishii and Tame Ozawa Ishii. She received her primary and secondary education in Tokyo, Japan. Upon completion, she served as assistant to the Japanese Ambassador Office in Indonesia before returning to Tokyo where she met and married her late husband Aubrey McEnery at the US Embassy in Tokyo on March 26, 1962. She relocated with her husband to the United States in 1962 and became a naturalized citizen in 1965. She attended and completed college study at Imperial Valley College in El Centro, California. Over her lifetime she worked as a dental technician and administrative assistant across the US from Tampa, Florida to San Francisco, California. She also worked as a tour guide for Yahiro Tour Services in Bermuda. She relocated to Carrollton, Georgia from Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004, where she has lived ever since.

Takako loved to lead an active lifestyle and she could be seen walking into her 80’s around the pond at East Carrollton Park. She spent much of her life around water where she swam, fished, boated, water skied, and jet skied well into her 70’s. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who remained committed to her late husband for over 30 years after his passing until she could be reunited with him today. Whether helping out at the family restaurant, relocating to support her deployed military son’s family or attending a baseball, basketball or ice hockey game, her commitment to her family was unmatched. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Takako is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey, step-son Leon, parents Kazuyoshi and Tame and her brothers Masao, Hiroshi and Kozo.

Takako is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Valerie McEnery and Timothy and Heather McEnery, brother Shogo, sisters Chizoko, Yoshiko and Hiroko, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
