Sammy Lew Hagan, age 89, of Seventh Street, Carrollton departed this life on Sunday, December 27, 2009. Mr. Hagan was born in Carrollton, Georgia on November 30, 1920, the son of the late Tom and Rena Evans Hagan. He retired from J. Carl Cleaners and was a member of First Baptist Church of Carrollton where he served as an usher. He leaves to cherish his memories, 4 children; Larry (Edna) Hagan of Columbus, Georgia, and John (Joyce) Hagan of Warner Robins, Georgia, and James (Dianne) Hagan of Albany, Georgia, and Delores (Johnny) Moore of Carrollton, Georgia. Also, he leaves seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Paul Hagan of Jacksonville, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Rena Evans Hagan. Also, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years Gladys Meadows Hagan, and his brother; T.W. Hagan, and his sister; Eugenia Hagan Dammond Williams. A celebration of the life of Mr. Sam Hagan will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Carrollton with Pastor Bradley Bell officiating and close friends sharing reflections. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Billy Sayles, Mitchell Springer, Melvin Gamble, Richard Carden, Thomas Newell, Clarence Stegall, William L. Screws, Sr., Earnest R. Jenkins, and Purvis R. Jackson. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery.
