Obituary

Mr. Roy Bushnell Bogue, age 79 of Carrollton, Georgia, died peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2015. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on November 7, 1935, the son of the late Lincoln Chapman Bogue and Bernice Louise Clark Bogue. Mr. Bogue received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and his master's degree in Mathematics from Auburn University where he was a member and past president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He then attended Georgia Institute of Technology for further graduate study. He began his teaching career at Auburn University and also taught at Georgia Tech before coming to West Georgia College in 1968. At West Georgia, he taught Mathematics until his retirement. He served on the faculty senate and was a member and past president of the West Georgia Chapter of the American Association of University Professors. Mr. Bogue was a longtime member and past president of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club, where he also received the Hixson Award. He was a member of Carrollton First Baptist Church where he served on the Sound Committee for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Chapman Bogue of Knoxville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Harriet Ann Harrill Bogue, whom he met while she was a graduate student at West Georgia. Survivors also include step-sons and daughter-in-law, John David Tisinger, Joel and Erica Tisinger; grandchildren, Harrison Harrill Tisinger and Ann Holland Tisinger all of Carrollton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. John A. Harrill, Jr. and Lou Ann Harrill (along with their children and grandchildren) of Spartanburg, South Carolina. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 5 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. Music will be provided by The Honorable Eddie Hulsey, Julie Lowry, and Tracy Rainwater. Pallbearers are Ken Sapp, Gardner Sapp, John A. Harrill, III, Andy Harrill, Jason Blanks, and Joe Turner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charlie Rouse, and the Carrollton Kiwanis Club. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton First Baptist Church, Music Department,102 Dixie Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
